Had a fantastic group getaway! We enjoyed the lush gardens, historic architecture, and tons of activities. The lectures were enlightening, and we loved relaxing on the beautiful grounds. Don't miss the Amphitheater entertainment and all the dining options.
However, one of our rooms wasn't renovated, and some outlets were a bit concerning. Lighting could use improvement, so ask for updated rooms.

I thoroughly enjoyed the charming historic ambiance of Athenaeum. The large porch overlooking Chautauqua Lake offered breathtaking views, and the rocking chairs were a delightful spot to relax. The elevators made accessing our room so easy for us seniors.
Would appreciate more dietary options at breakfast.

The character of this historic hotel makes for a delightful stay, although some rooms could use upgrades, as mine felt somewhat outdated with limited amenities. However, the beauty of the lake view and welcoming staff certainly enhanced the experience.

I stayed for three nights in a cozy Standard Double Room and absolutely loved the pastries at breakfast and the beautiful views of the lake. For some downtime, I really enjoyed the outdoor seating areas and the inviting library filled with great books. The decor could use a little updating to match the charming vibe, but it didn't take away from my overall experience. 😊

I spent two nights at the Athenaeum in a Standard Double Room, and I truly loved the charming historic ambiance of the hotel. The views of Chautauqua Lake are breathtaking, especially from the large porch with rocking chairs. It’s a perfect place to unwind with a drink. The elevators made it very convenient to access our room, which was comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout my stay, particularly when I needed assistance with breakfast. The breakfast itself could use a bit more variety, especially for dietary options. I encountered a minor issue with off-site parking. navigation was tricky initially. Despite these small hiccups, the overall atmosphere and service made my stay enjoyable. The Athenaeum is close to cultural events, so I had plenty to explore.

decent stay with room for improvement
The standard double room offered a comfortable and clean space for my stay. The breakfast selection, albeit basic, provided a reasonable start to the day despite some confusion due to a convention.
The breakfast setup lacked clear signage for hotel guests amidst the convention.

Diving into the local eats was a blast! I hit up Afterwords Cafe for a killer breakfast that'll have you dreaming about their pancakes. Plus, the scene at the Athenaeum was charming—think breathtaking views and friendly staff willing to lend a hand. 🌅
Now, about the noise—our room vibed right above a wedding DJ whose beats went past midnight. Guess it was a party, but I just wanted a little peace and quiet. Also, some less-than-stellar lighting in the room didn't help calm the scene.

Ideal spot for a couple's retreat
The breakfast was very good, and the dinner we had the night before was excellent. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and reminiscing about our 65 years together, taking in the beautiful view of the lake and watching the boats go by.
It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but it was acceptable for the experience we had.
